How to set up a proxy in Incogniton

Add an HTTP(S) or SOCKS5 proxy to the Incogniton Proxy Library and attach it to a profile on the Proxy tab.

What you need

The proxy details in the format host:port:login:password. Incogniton accepts them either in separate fields or as a single line in the ip:port:username:password format, and then fills in the fields itself.

The line to paste. Use SOCKS5 only if your proxy has a separate SOCKS5 port.
HOST:PORT:LOGIN:PASSWORD

Setup

  1. Open Proxy Library in the Incogniton side menu and click + New proxy.
  2. If you like, set a display name. In the connection type selector, choose HTTPS (for the HTTP(S) port) or SOCKS5 (for the separate SOCKS5 port).
  3. Paste the HOST:PORT:LOGIN:PASSWORD string into the proxy field or enter the values in the separate fields.
  4. Choose a group from the drop-down list or leave Unassigned. The Rotating proxy switch is only for rotation through an API; leave it off for static proxies.
  5. Click Check to test the connection, then Add (or Add to list if you are adding several proxies at once, and Add after that).
  6. Open or create a profile, choose Pre-saved proxy on the Proxy tab and pick the proxy you added. The Custom proxy option lets you enter the details directly in the profile.
  7. Save the profile and launch it.

Language by IP

The Incogniton documentation recommends turning on Fill language based on IP so that the browser language matches the proxy's country.

Check

  1. Launch the profile and open the IP check page on Hopmind.
  2. Make sure it shows the address and country of your proxy, not your home IP.
  3. Proxy speed is visible in the profile list: a coloured lightning icon next to the proxy, with the ping in milliseconds on hover. The Proxy Ping column is turned on with the gear icon in the top right corner of the profile list.

Common problems

  1. Authorization error or Check does not pass: double-check the login and password, make sure there are no extra spaces from pasting, and that the type matches the port (HTTPS for the HTTP(S) port, SOCKS5 only for the SOCKS5 port).
  2. Timeout: make sure the proxy is active and the port is correct, then run the check again. A red lightning icon means low speed.
  3. The country by IP does not match the language or time zone: turn on Fill language based on IP in the profile and restart it.
