How to set up a proxy in Kameleo

Set up an HTTP(S) or SOCKS5 proxy in the Connection block of a Kameleo profile and verify it with the Test proxy button.

What you need

Kameleo does not sell proxies, so you need your own. The values from the host:port:login:password string go into separate fields.

Which value goes in which field. The HTTP / HTTPS type fits the main port, SOCKS5 only the separate SOCKS5 port.
Host: HOST
Port: PORT
Username: LOGIN
Password: PASSWORD

Setup

  1. Create a new profile with the New button and choose the device type, operating system, browser and language.
  2. In the next window, find the Connection block. By default it is set to a direct connection without a proxy (Direct connection).
  3. Choose the proxy type: HTTP or SOCKS5 (Kameleo also supports HTTPS and SSH).
  4. Fill in Host and Port. If the proxy requires a login, turn on the Authentication switch and fill in Username and Password.
  5. Click Test proxy and wait for the result.
  6. Click Save & Start (or Start) to launch the profile with the proxy.

What to check in your version

The exact labels in the Connection block can differ slightly between Kameleo versions. If you cannot find the Authentication switch, look for the Username and Password fields next to Host and Port.

Check

  1. The Test proxy button tries to reach several well-known sites (Google, Archive.org, Wikipedia) through the proxy.
  2. After launching the profile, open the IP check page on Hopmind and make sure the address and country belong to the proxy.

Common problems

  1. Test proxy fails even though the details are correct: the documentation warns that some providers restrict access to certain sites, so the test can fail with a working proxy. Check the IP on the Hopmind check page.
  2. Authorization error: make sure Authentication is turned on and that Username and Password are entered without spaces.
  3. Timeout: check Host and Port and that the proxy type matches the port (HTTP for the HTTP(S) port, SOCKS5 only for the SOCKS5 port).
