The proxy is slow
What to check if pages load slowly through the proxy or the connection drops.
What you need
The proxy details and a way to compare the speed with and without the proxy. Static proxies have no per-traffic charge.
Quick check
- Turn the proxy off and check the speed of your regular internet. If it is low, the problem is your network.
- Turn the proxy on and repeat. Compare the load time of the same page.
- Turn off the VPN and any extra proxies: a chain of several slows the connection.
- Close programs that use the network: downloads, cloud sync.
- Try another network, for example tethering from a phone.
- If HTTP and SOCKS5 ports were both issued, try the other one.
- Check the time of day: speed can differ at peak hours.
What it means
- Slow only through the proxy: the server's latency and throughput are lower than your direct connection.
- Slow without the proxy too: the problem is your internet.
- Pages take a long time to start loading, then load quickly: high latency to the server, which is normal for a distant location.
- Connection drops: an unstable network between you and the server, or restrictions in your network.
When to contact support
If everything is fast without the proxy and consistently slow with it, contact support.
What to include
The order number, the time of the measurements with the time zone, the speed with and without the proxy, your city and provider. Do not send the password.
