My IP address

The address your request came from when it reached the Hopmind server. If you're connected through a proxy or VPN, this is the exit address.

Address type
Public address: this is what websites see if you aren't using a proxy or VPN.

What websites see along with your IP

The IP address is only part of the trail. On an ordinary visit, a website usually receives other data as well.

  • Approximate location and provider name, which the website determines itself from address databases. Different databases may disagree.
  • Browser headers: version, operating system, interface language.
  • Cookies and data the website saved earlier.
  • Signals that can identify a browser without cookies: the set of fonts, screen size, rendering quirks, time zone.

So changing your IP through a proxy changes only one part of the trail. To learn how to choose an address for your task, read about proxy types.

What the tool doesn't detect

This page runs on the server and sees only what arrived in the request headers. So it has no data that it cannot know.

  • Country, city and provider. We don't query geolocation databases, so we make no claims about location or provider.
  • DNS leaks. The check requires browser requests to special domains, which the server can't perform.
  • WebRTC leaks. A browser may reveal local and real addresses through WebRTC, and that is visible only in the browser itself.
  • A second address. If you have both IPv4 and IPv6, the server sees only the one this request came from.

How far you can trust the result

The address is taken from headers set by the hosting or load balancer in front of the application. If there is no such intermediary, the header can be sent by the client itself, and then the address is not reliable evidence.
